This guide explains how to configure user permissions for managing Blog Feeds and creating Blog Posts.
About Blogs
Blogs help companies share news, updates, and values with employees in an engaging, familiar format. The blogs module is free with SmartHub® platforms but requires activation by your Client Success or Support team.
Permission Types
Two types of roles control blog access:
- Platform-based: Assigned via Reward Manager/Admin Portal by Client Admins. Applies to all blogs platform-wide.
- Blog-based: Assigned within individual Blog Feed settings. Applies to specific feeds only.
Note: Your organization's Client Administrator assigns platform-based roles and needs Member Access Control Administrator and/or Permissions Manager permissions.
Platform Role: SmartPress Administrator
Assign this role to whoever will manage your organization's blogs and feeds. This role allows users to:
- Add, edit, and remove Blog Feeds
- Delete comments
- Create, edit, schedule, and delete posts
- Manage other users' blog permissions
- Publish posts on behalf of others (the represented user doesn't need any special role)
Blog-Based Roles
Four access levels are available:
- Admin (platform-based): Manages all blogs and user access across the platform
- Editor (blog-based): Same permissions as Admin but limited to assigned Blog Feeds. Can be assigned to multiple feeds.
- Blogger (blog-based): Can create, edit, schedule, publish, and delete their own posts only. Cannot view others' posts.
- Contributor (blog-based): Can create and edit their own posts but needs Admin or Editor approval to publish, schedule, or delete. Cannot view others' posts.
